Stand Design for Barilla

This project is part of the whole 3D Experience created for Barilla. Barilla invests time and efforts in commercialising 3D printed pasta to the real market. This university project is proposal for Barilla and adapts their needs to the places where they want to sell 3D printed pasta like supermarkets, malls, outdoor events.

This design of the hotspot stand is inspired by the pure organic lines found in the nature. It hasconstruction which is realized layer by layer. The same approach is used in the 3d pasta by Barilla. The main body of the stand is made by layers of plywood which are not coloured – the idea is to have natural feeling as the same as the pasta. The main stand also has shelves which will present the specialised products of Barilla.

In front of the main stand there is table made of bended plywood, which is coloured in the dark blue colour of Barilla. The table is support for the 3D printer and the glass pyramid which present a hologram of the 3D printed pasta.

The design is adaptable to diferent situations. It can be rearanged and can be added additional mini stands and shelves.

In the construction are used 46 layers of plywood 50mm sheet. Each of them is cut with varying offset from the bottom sheet ( from 10mm to 150mm). The design of the main body is realized through layers of plywood sheets. The idea is to have a visual connection with the layer of the 3D printing technology of Barilla. The plywood sheets are 50mm thick each. For the main body are needed 46 plywood sheets. They have a different offset from the main shape and in that way is created the beautiful organic outline of the main body. The strength of the structure is enhanced by 7 steel tubes with diameter 60mm which are 2200mm height. They fit inside the holes in the layers.
